Michael Kwesi Owusu Addo known more as Sarkodie is a Ghanaian award-winning rapper and hip-hop artist from Tema, esteemed for hit singles like “Baby,” “Lay Away,” and “Altar.” 

Sarkodie started his professional music career in 2008. His debut album, Makye got nominated and won 5 major awards at the 2010 Ghana Music Awards (Artist of the Year, Discovery of the Year, Hip hop/hiplife artist of the year, Best Rapper of the year, and Album of the Year). He was also nominated at the 2010 MTV Africa Awards, MAMAS in the best Anglophone category. Sarkodie also won “Best Collaboration of The Year” award with the video of his song “Lay Away” which features Sway
from UK at the SOUND CITY MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS 2010 in Nigeria. Other awards feature: Artist of the year

His first album released in the states, Rapperholic, was nomimated for 12 awards in the 2012 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and won the awards; Artist of the Year, Most Popular Song of the year -U Go Kill Me, Best Rapper of The Year. He won Best African Act in Nigeria at the 2012 Headies, and won Best International ACT- Africa at the BET awards . Most recently, Sarkodie won the award for Best International Flow at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2019

Sarkodie’s notable stage-presence has made way for him to perform alongside other international acts such as, Chipmunk, T-Pain, Trey Songz, Mavado, Ludacris.
He has also released a song with Donae’o and Idris Elba which reached more than half a million views within a month.
